Junk Hauling in Gresham: What We Take, What We Don't

Before you book a junk pickup in Gresham, it helps to know what a hauler can load and what needs to go somewhere else. Most household junk is easy, but a few items are restricted by law or need special handling. Here is a clear list, plus what junk hauling costs in Gresham in 2026.

What We Take

Most of what fills a garage, basement, or backyard can go in one load. Common items include:

• Furniture: couches, recliners, mattresses, box springs, dressers, tables, and desks
• Appliances: washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, and microwaves
• Electronics: TVs, computers, printers, and stereo equipment, routed to proper e-waste recycling
• Yard debris: branches, brush, old fencing, and bagged leaves
• Remodel debris: old cabinets, carpet, flooring, drywall scraps, and fixtures
• Garage and storage clutter: boxes, bikes, exercise equipment, toys, and old tools
• Outdoor items: patio furniture, grills (tanks removed), hot tub covers, and playsets
• Estate and move-out loads: full room or full house cleanouts

Items in good shape get set aside for donation when possible. Metal, electronics, and clean wood go to recycling instead of the landfill.

What We Don't Take

Some materials are hazardous or regulated, so standard junk haulers can't legally mix them into a regular load. Metro transfer stations also list waste they cannot accept with regular trash. Plan to handle these separately:

• Paint, stains, and solvents (unless dried out and approved)
• Pesticides, herbicides, and pool chemicals
• Motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze, and other automotive fluids
• Propane tanks and compressed gas cylinders
• Asbestos and materials that may contain it
• Medical waste and sharps
• Ammunition, fireworks, and explosives
• Large amounts of loose dirt, concrete, or rock without notice ahead of time

The good news: Metro offers free household hazardous waste disposal for residents, with a daily limit of 35 gallons. That covers most of the items above.

What Junk Hauling Costs in Gresham (2026)

Gresham pricing is based on how much space your items take in the truck. Local haulers advertise single item pickups starting around $80 and minimum loads starting around $99. Typical ranges:

• Single bulky item: about $80 to $150
• Small load (a few items): about $150 to $250
• Half truck: about $250 to $450
• Full truck: about $450 to $750

Heavy items like concrete, mattresses, and appliances can add a fee. If you would rather haul it yourself, Metro's 2026 transfer station guide lists a $51 minimum fee for trash loads. That can make sense for one trip, but rental trucks, gas, and your time add up fast for bigger jobs.

• Group items in one spot, like the garage or driveway, if you can
• Separate anything you want to keep

FAQ

Do I need to be home? Not always. If items are outside and you have sent photos, we can often complete the pickup while you are away.

Can you take a hot tub or piano? Often yes, but these need extra crew and time. Send photos so we can quote it correctly.

What happens to the items you take? We donate what we can, recycle metal and electronics, and take the rest to a licensed transfer station.
